Many of my favorite pictures taken over the years are black and white pictures. I therefore often spend hours and much effort in the creative work turning a color picture into a Black and White picture followed by ´playing´ with the Light and Effects in Lightroom.

Far from all pictures are suitable for conversion to Black and White. It very much depends on the composition of the dark and light areas of the picture. And it depends on the amount of different grey tones in the picture.

I like much contrast in the pictures with areas nearly totally white and areas nearly totally black. I therefore often use Lightrooms, Dehaze and Clarity functionality to create the right expression.

Over the years, I have taken some pictures, where the colors play a significant role in the expression of the picture. Some of them you will find in the Color sub menu entry. I very much like strong colors, flowers, and of course magic sunsets.

As you can see, my sur name is Florentsen. So I am from Denmark, therefore I have made a special Danish section. Here I have mainly collected some of the pictures I have taken near my home in Gundsømagle, Roskilde,  Denmark. The village is located in beautiful surroundings between the fjord, the forest and the countryside. These surroundings have been a great inspiration for my photography and it still is.

On my frequent walks along the Roskilde Fjord, I have seen and photographed many great sun sets. And in the forest nearby, Bognæs, Boserup and Gulddysse, I have witnessed the change of seasons.

I have had the privilege of travelling to many different countries and during travelling, the opportunity to take good pictures always arrives. From the harsh landscapes in Iceland, to wonderful Faroe Islands in the north Atlantic and the fjords of Norway, from fantastic beaches in Portugal to high Himalayan mountains in Nepal, from desolate deserts in Namibia to densely populated cities like New York, Kathmandu and Moscow. All year around, I take pictures. After Lightroom processing, I put the best recent shots here.

In order to take good photographs, you often need a good camera. Today most people use their mobile phone to take the pictures, but if you want to take sharp pictures with much detail, and sometimes in low light conditions, a high resolution camera is needed. I am therefore very happy with my SONY A7R mark 3 – camera. It delivers pleasant natural colors and high dynamic range which ensures good handling of the dark and light areas of the pictures.

I have seen many pictures in my life where some of the areas in the picture are totally blown out in white. In order to prevent this to happen, I often use the exposure compensation dial on the Sony A7riii to turn down the light. And the exposure compensation dial is very conveniently placed at your right thumb on the SONY A7riii camera. I then afterwards reestablish the light using Adobe Lightroom, so that blown out white areas are minimized.

Good camera lenses are vital for taking good pictures. Without a good performing camera lens, you are not getting the full potential of your camera. I am therefore very happy with my present SIGMA 24-70 Art lens and the 135 mm 1.8 SIGMA lens.

They both deliver good sharp pictures good bokeh performance and minimum flair and chromatic aberration.

I take many backlight pictures with maximum contrast and here, the SIGMA lenses fully meet my requirements.
